50 ways to improve wellbeing in the classroom

6- snacks

Eating together can help to build community and provide the ideal opportunity to practise social skills together. Try to avoid rushed snack bars and instead if you can set aside time each day to sit together and eat. Our favourite snack foods are bread sticks, cheese and raisins, flapjacks and toast. We try to stick to a rota with a different snack each day repeated week after week as this helps children to develop their sense of time and the familiar routine of setting the table and eating together feels comforting and supportive.
